Debut novel explodes the trials and tribulations of modern life and love.
A freethinking, emotionally-charged, highly addictive spin on love, life and the nature of reality.
In 1996, Toronto author Karen M. Black began to write in a curious, unstructured wave.
What she wrote scared her so much, that she abandoned her writing for five years. What she didn't know was that she had just written the climax of her debut novel Moondance, which would be published more than ten years later.
Today, Karen's early words are preserved virtually uncut in a series of riveting scenes that are literally keeping readers up at night.
Are you ready?
Moondance is modern and slightly edgy, exploring universal themes. It's not only the ideas Moondance explores that make it unique, but how it explores them. Intelligently. At a compulsively readable pace.
Are you ready? is a question that's asked of Moondance's main character Althea... whose answer takes her on the wild ride that changes her life. Is Moondance fantasy? Psychological thriller? Romance? Magical realism? Sort of. But not really. Honestly, it may be in a category all its own. We're told it's hard to put down and it stays with you long after it's over. Buy Moondance

Plot summary
MBA student Althea Brecht's life changes overnight when she discovers her boyfriend's betrayal. Devastated, she focuses on the future. Yet the more she does, the more her past threatens to engulf her.
Desperate to forget, she falls into the arms of a lover whose desire for control borders on sexual obsession. In a chance encounter, she meets Michael Foster, a man with secrets of his own. Later, she's plagued by visions of a seductive green-eyed man who claims to be able to unlock her past and change her future.
Wondering about her own sanity, Althea seeks answers in chillingly accurate tarot card readings and in the ancient secrets of karmic astrology. In dreams, she receives unsettling messages from her step-father Albert who died when she was a child.
When tragedy strikes, Althea loses her grip on reality and everything she believes about life, her family and herself is in doubt. She's terrified to face what's happening to her. Yet she knows if she doesn't, she risks losing everything.
Addictive, intelligent and unabashedly erotic, Moondance explores life, love, the nature of reality and plunges the reader full-force into the wake of an astonishing climax.
